Update your Store Displays for a Fresh Start

New year new retail displays? If your displays have gotten stale and you’re ready for a change, switching up your store shelving can help. After the holidays is the perfect time to update your store layout. This is typically the time of year when many retailers have some down time, and instead of having employees refolding the same pile of shirts again, have them help you freshen up those displays.

 

First, clear out any leftover holiday signage or displays. You’d be surprised what you find lingering around your store. Products displayed as gifts can still be useful, however. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and gift baskets are always great for birthdays. If you still have some leftover that you are hoping to sell, don’t feel like you have to remove them from the sales floor, just discontinue promoting them as holiday gifts.

 

Do some rearranging. If you don’t have fresh merchandise to fill in, rearrange some of your existing displays. When shoppers drop by for a return, they’ll be more likely to browse products for an exchange if they think they are seeing something new.

 

Do a deep clean. While you are rearranging your displays this is a great opportunity to give them all a nice cleaning. Remove product and dust and wipe down the shelves. Sweep underneath racks or fixtures that are typically blocked my merchandise. Reorganize around the cash wrap and clean all mirrors around the store. You should be mopping regularly during the winter due to slushy boots tracking through your aisles.

 

Consider new retail displays. If you have a display that is falling apart, or are hoping to add a new option such as an end unit or candy riser, now is the time! With less merchandise coming in, this is an ideal time to add some new displays to your store.

 

Not only will freshening up your displays feel good for you, but it will be a welcome change for your customers too. Shoppers love seeing new and exciting merchandise when they walk into a store, and after likely spending so much time in stores over the holidays, they are ready to see a change.
